Commercial Recycling

Who?

All offices, restaurants, grocery stores, retail shops, service shops, schools, nursing homes, churches, apartment buildings of four or more units, parks, and any other nonresidential or multi-family facility.

What?

To comply with State and local law, you must recycle the following items:

  • High-Grade Office Paper
  • Corrugated Cardboard
  • Aluminum Cans
  • Yard Waste

High-Grade Office Paper includes white computer paper, copier paper, letterhead and similar white office paper. The Township encourages establishments to collect any additional recyclable items that may contribute to waste reduction.

How?

Establishments must:

  1. Make private arrangements with recycling contractors or waste haulers that provide recycling services; or,
  2. Haul recyclables to a commercial recycler or a drop-off center and obtain receipts for yearly submission to the Township.

If option 2 is chosen, the establishment must obtain receipts showing the weight of each recyclable item. Said receipts must be submitted to the Township with the Annual Commercial Recycling Report.

All commercial recyclers or waste haulers collecting in the Township must be licensed by the Township.

Reporting

All nonresidential and multi-family establishments must submit an Annual Recycling Report.  This report outlines the details of your recycling program for the previous calendar year. The Township mails these reports to each business during January. If your establishment transports its own recyclables it is imperative that receipts be obtained for each recyclable item. These receipts must be submitted to the Township with the Annual Commercial Recycling Report. If a commercial firm collects your recyclables, said firm will be able to provide the tonnage of each recyclable material collected.
